Canutillo Bosque Road Wastewater Lift Station and Force Main
El Paso Water Utilities – El Paso, TX
Project consisted of the design of 700-gpm (1.0 MGD) lift station and 6,280 L.F. of 6” PVC force main, of which 3,845 L.F. was fusible PVC pipe. The 1.0 MGD flow are the initial anticipated flows to service the Canutillo Middle School and the Doniphan Collector system. It is also the intent to use the proposed 30” casing that has been permitted by USIBWC across the Rio Grande River of sufficient size to install both 6” PVC force main for the 1.0 MGD and a 16” PVC force main for the future flow of 5 MGD for the future Lift Station. The portion underneath the levee for the steel casing will be installed by a jack and bore method for 140 feet. The levee will not have any ground disturbance. Within the river floodplain, a new 6-inch and 16-inch force main lines inside a 30-inch steel casing will be installed by open cut method for 554 feet. Services provided included civil engineering, surveying, construction phase services and issuance of engineer’s opinion of construction cost. Scope of work included coordination and permitting with TCEQ (Dewatering Plan- Water Quality Report), USACE (Working with the limits of the flood plain), IBWC (Agency having jurisdiction over the Rio Grande), TXDOT, El Paso County, El Paso Electric, BNSF (Railroad), EPCWID#1, Texas Historical Commission, Texas Parks and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife Service.
